White republicans who believe Obama is Muslim are going to be voting for him this time around because they would rather have a person in office that can somewhat relate to their issues. In a recent poll, voters said they would be less likely to vote for a candidate who is "very wealthy" than one who isn't.
Then there's the issue of religion, something that Southerners take very seriously. Afterall, they call it the Bible Belt for a reason. Of the group polled, lower- and middle-income white Bible Belt voters, say they would be less likely to vote for a candidate who is Mormon. Many evangelicals believe that the Mormon religion is a cult and are not encouraging their congragations to vote for Romney in the way that they did with McCain and Bush in previous elections.
This election campaign has been a rollercoaster for sure but if Romney intends to win, he had better look for votes north of the Mason-Dixon because Southerners just aren't buying into him.
